The Berean Library
“Now these (Bereans) were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the Word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” ~Acts 17:11
Posting Warning Signs, “Bad Fruit,” Along the Path for Other Pilgrims Who Are on Their Way to the Celestial City. (adapted from The Pilgrim’s Progress)
BEWARE!!! The Berean Library® contains FALSE TEACHINGS (bad fruit), that are found in Christian bookstores. These doctrines come from intentional DECEIVERS, “wolves in sheep’s clothing,” or from those who are being deceived themselves (Mt 7:15-20; 2 Tim 3:13)!
This library has been made to WARN others about the many false gospels and/or movements in Christian bookstores, which ATTACK Christ and the True Gospel. This site is here for the Glory of God (1 Cor 10:31) & 4HisTruth (Jn 14:6; 17:17), while hopefully and prayerfully, being profitable in HELPING the flock to INCREASE BIBLICAL DISCERNMENT (Phil 1:9-11) by identifying & exposing false teachings (Rom 16:17-18; Eph 5:11), while encouraging further STUDY of The Word for us all, to be like BEREANS who continually TEST everything in light of Scripture (Acts 17:11; 1 Thess 5:21), so as not to be MISLED, as Jesus commands (Mt 24:4).
▶ JESUS says, in Mt 7: 15-20, “BEWARE of the FALSE PROPHETS, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are RAVENOUS WOLVES. You will know them by their FRUITS. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree (sound doctrine) bears good fruit, but the BAD TREE (false teaching) BEARS BAD FRUIT. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS.” (caps added)
What kind of fruit will one find in The Berean Library®? There will be “bad fruit” books and “good fruit” resources found in this library.
“BAD FRUIT” is any works that TEACH at a MAXIMUM a “DIFFERENT GOSPEL” relating to the essentials of the faith (Gal 1:6). JESUS & PAUL called THOSE WHO BRING A DIFFERENT GOSPEL THIS: “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” JESUS described them as “RAVENOUS” & PAUL as “SAVAGE!” BEWARE!!
False doctrine in the non-essentials that comes from incorrect hermeneutics and, thus, spiritual blind spots is not teaching a false gospel, but nonetheless is erroneous doctrine in regard to the full counsel of God. As such it will be identified here also as “bad fruit” for the sake of rightly dividing truth from error. For example, theistic evolution (millions of years religion/evolution) or teaching that God commands believers and church leadership to battle poverty (social justice commission).
“GOOD FRUIT,” many Gospel-rich, sound doctrine ministries that address false teaching in the church, progressing and defending the Gospel (Phil 1:12,16) and contending for the faith (Jude 1:3) and the unity of the saints, are presented in the left margin and in posts as trustworthy and discerning resources as aids in biblical study.
All books found in Christian bookstores, that promote false teaching in the church, will not be guaranteed to be contained in this library, though there has been a diligent pursuit, by God’s grace, to present as much “BAD FRUIT” to BEWARE of as possible. Having stated that, the greatest priority and most important aspect of this site is having the True Gospel and corresponding Statement of Faith, the biblical outline for the essentials of the faith and key doctrine for orthodox Christianity, available on this site! As a Spirit-filled believer understands these up, down, forwards, backwards, left to right, they will be able to spot a false gospel and false teaching instantly, by God’s truth (Jn 17:17), Helper and grace! I simply cannot over emphasize enough that knowing the genuine, authentic True Gospel, hands down, is the KEY to discerning its many counterfeits that undermine Christ and the fundamentals of saving faith!
▶ In Acts 17:11, “Now these (Bereans) were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.”
▶ In Mt 7:15-16, JESUS says,“BEWARE of the false prophets, who come to YOU in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are RAVENOUS wolves. “You will know them by their fruits (teaching what is CONTRARY to the Scripture).”
▶ In Rom 16:17, Paul says, “Now I URGE you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances CONTRARY to the teaching which you LEARNED, and TURN AWAY from THEM.”
▶ In Acts 20:29-30, Paul says, “I know that after my departure SAVAGE WOLVES will come in among YOU, NOT SPARING THE FLOCK; and from AMONG YOUR OWN SELVES men will arise, speaking PERVERSE things, TO DRAW AWAY the disciples after them.”
▶ In Eph 5:11, Paul says, “Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even EXPOSE them;”
▶ In 1 Jn 4:1, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but TEST the spirits to see whether they are from God, because MANY FALSE PROPHETS have gone out into the world.”
▶ In 2 Tim 3:13, we read, “But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to WORSE, deceiving and being deceived.”
▶ In Jude 1:4,19, “For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God in licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. These are THE ONES who cause DIVISIONS, worldly minded, devoid of the Spirit.” (caps & parenthesis added)
PLEASE NOTE: In this library, posts for books written by female authors may include a Berean book review compiled by a woman. Books by male authors will only include Berean book reviews by men in honor of God’s design for church leadership, structure and distinctive roles of men and women in the church and home (1 Tim 3:15; Eph 5:22-33). In the case that a particular book lacks a biblical Berean book review, information of the false teaching that the author promotes will be listed in lieu of a book review.
Notice the overall direction of this site is to uphold that which is truth, promoting good fruit ministries and/or their Berean examinations in an organizational, library-fashion. Hopefully, in some measure, being helpful, comforting and encouraging believers toward unity for growing in love, real knowledge and all discernment, by God’s amazing grace, Word and Spirit (Phil 1:9-10).
